Torie hosted the hospitality suite for Mercedes Benz at the Formula one Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend. She analysed both the practice sessions and the, rather nail biting, qualifying session for the room and chatted to some of the leading figures from the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team including the current World Champion Nico Rosberg, Paddy Lowe, Toto Wolff and weekend winner Lewis Hamilton. Torie also got to chat to Otmar Szafnauer, chief operating officer at Sahara Force India and Susie Wolff, Mercedes Brand ambassador currently heading up the current ‘she’s Mercedes’ campaign.
Torie’s interview with Lewis Hamilton caused a bit of a twitter storm after she wasn’t going to let him off for such a close call during the nail biting qualifying session, when Lewis had his time wiped off the board after running beyond track limits, with only minutes left to claim pole position back. The current reigning World Champion said the crowd at his home track inspired him to get back out and prove why he’s a World Champion.

He was on great form both on the track and in the interview and showed his funny and relaxed side, while chatting to Torie, who’s quickly becoming known for her light-hearted and funny approach to interviewing.

On race day the current leader of the World Championship, Nico Rosberg and the ‘boss’ Toto Wolff came in. It would be fair to say Rosberg was fairly tense prior to the race ahead of him, but still managed to show his cheeky side and caused a few laughs with some light hearted responses to a few tough questions from the crowd. Toto Wolff was very open when chatting about the struggles’ of managing two very competitive team mates and said that ‘susie Wolff’ kept him very grounded and wouldn’t let him bring too much stress home 😉
The weekend was a great success with both Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg on the podium, taking a first and third (after a penalty demoted Rosberg from second to third as the result of a stewards enquiry into the radio contact between Rosberg and the garage).
